Hi, my name’s Thai Braddick. :)

I’m an English and Drama teacher with a combined 7 years of teaching and tutoring experience. I also serve as an examiner for AQA GCSE English Literature. I’ve previously been a Head of Department at a secondary school in Cambridge graded ‘Outstanding’ for education and leadership in a 2023 Ofsted inspection, and as a 1-to-1 support tutor at an ‘Outstanding’ private school in Cambridge.

I graduated from the University of Cambridge with a PGCE in Secondary English, and am currently studying for a Masters in Education with Kings College London. I have a First from the University of East Anglia in Literature and Creative Writing.

When I started my undergraduate degree, I was diagnosed with ADHD and dyspraxia. Up until this point, I’d struggled massively to reach my full potential in school and had disappointing GCSE and A-Level results. I had to study a foundation year before I could start my degree.

This was because my neurodivergence had never been properly accommodated for. I’d had tutors and teachers that allowed me to coast through my formative education and did not know how to support me and my specific needs. Since becoming a teacher, I refuse to let this happen to my students, and factor this into my tutoring ethos which you can read more about below.

In addition, I’m a passionate gardener and country walker. I love to cook, spend time with my friends and family, play video games, read, and I even do a little bit of writing in my spare time, which you can see at my blog.

My tutoring ethos:

I believe that students should be encouraged to ask questions, be curious about their education, and feel emboldened and assertive with their opinions and arguments. I also believe that students want to do well, and need to be given the resources to do so. Some students may not have access to those resources, which is why I offer a sliding scale on a case-by-case basis for my one hour tutoring sessions. If you’re interested in the sliding scale, please speak to me in our initial consultation and I’ll do what I can to help.

I am particularly interested in supporting neurodivergent students in mainstream education to achieve their best and explore study and revision techniques that will work for their brains. In my tutoring, I offer my students:

  • Sentence starters to support their writing.

  • Dual-coding of important information to support their understanding.

  • Clear, structured, and tailored sessions to meet their needs.

  • Bespoke planning and memorisation techniques to help with learning quotes and key information.

  • A warm, supportive, and friendly atmosphere which encourages curiousity, questioning, conversation, and criticality.

If you’re interested in talking more about how we can support your child’s exam success, get in contact with me at the form below. I can’t wait to meet you!
